Josh was the founder and led Rhiza through its successful acquisition by Nielsen. Unlike most software startups, Rhiza was boot-strapped from actual revenue from customers for the first six years of operation. In 2014, the company brought in outside venture capital investment to help scale the business and raised a total of $8 million before its sale to Nielsen in February 2017.
Rhiza’s web-based advertising research and sales tools make Big Data actionable for the media industry, increasing revenue for both media companies and advertisers. Media publishers use Rhiza to arm their salespeople with better tools for selling premium advertising. Marketers use Rhiza to optimize hyper-targeted media buys and track campaign effectiveness.
Rhiza's flagship product, Rhiza for Media, is being used by a rapidly growing list of major media customers, including Comcast, Univision, Cox Media and Experian.

Built an acclaimed e-commerce site for socially and environmentally responsible products, services, and information that blended content, community, and commerce. Green Marketplace was one of the first online retailers to screen its products for environmental and social concerns, and rejecting products and companies that didn't treat people and the planet with respect. The company operated with a triple bottom-line philosophy, ensuring every major business decision was good for profit, people and the planet. Green Marketplace was sold to Gaiam in 2002.

As a college student at Carnegie Mellon University, Josh created the EnviroLink, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the most comprehensive, up-to-date environmental resources available on the Internet. EnviroLink helped over 2500 non-profits get online with email addresses, mailing lists and websites.
